Emmerson Mnangagwa Wins Zimbabwe’s Disputed Presidential Election

Zimbabwe President, Emmerson Mnangagwa has won the presidential election in the Southern African Country’s first post-Mugabe administration poll.

Mnangagwa of ZANU-PF also known as ‘the crocodile’ got 2.46million votes amounting to 50.8% of the votes against the leading opposition leader, Nelson Chamisa of the MDC Alliance who scored 2.15million 44.3% of the votes.

Morgan Komichi, spokesman of the MDC Alliance has rejected the results saying: “the results have not been verified by us … I didn’t sign the results”. He claimed “the results are fake”.

There was violence in the capital on Wednesday after Chamisa claimed victory and there is the fear that opposition supporters may start violent protests over what they perceive as a rigged election.
