A controversy over the appointment of Chinese nationals with dual Zambian citizenship as police officers in Zambia may have been but to rest after the Inspector General of police Kakoma Kanganja cancelled the induction of eight Chinese nationals as police reservists.
The police had initially defended its action as its spokesperson, Esther Katongo explained the recruitment saying it is constitutional:
“These are police reserves. The Police Reserves are backed by cap 117 of the Laws of Zambia known as the Zambia Police Reserve Act. The reserves are there to assist the Zambia Police in maintaining Law and order. They are also vital in Community Policing. The Law does not segregate on race. Police reserves put on police uniforms,” in her explanation.
However many Zambians opposed the move and took to Twitter to express their views. Read some of them next:

Why China of all countries? We need to realise the agenda of China in Africa otherwise soon Zambia will be the first country in Africa to be taken over by China at the rate we are exposing ourselves.
