The world football governing body, FIFA, has reversed the scores for the game between Nigeria and Algeria in the Russia 2018 world cup qualifiers game that held in Algeria on 10 November 2017.
Nigeria drew the game, with John Ogu firing a shot that put Nigeria ahead in the 62th minute before Yacine Brahimi converted a questionable penalty to force a 1-1 against Nigeria, who had already qualified before the game.
However, FIFA has now canceled that game and award 3-0 victory for Algeria for Nigeria fielding Abdullahi Shehu in the game despite not being eligible having gotten yellow card in two consecutive games before the agme in Algeria.
FIFA also fines Nigeria CHF 6000.
This is contained in the publication by FIFA yesterday on the latest disciplinary actions meted to members.
Thankfully, Nigeria still qualified for World Cup despite the deduction of the points and addition to Algeria. Otherwise, Nigeria would ahve been out of Russia 2018 World Cup fiesta.
