Students, associates, family and friends of a renowned academic and leader in the field of research in Mass Communication and Journalism in Nigeria, Dr Ifedayo Daramola are mourning his death.
He held a Ph.D. in Mass Communication from Babcock University , Ilishan Remo Ogun state and was an Associate Professor in the Department of Mass Communication. Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, Ondo state where he was also the Head of the Mass Communication Department.
His book, ‘History of the Press in Nigeria From 1859-2015 and the Origins of the Nigerian Broadcasting and Film Industry’ was held in high regard both locally and internationally as perhaps his best academic work. Some of his other books include: Introduction to Mass Communication, Law & Ethics of Media Practice, Mass Media and Society, Community Media and Rural Journalism in Africa, Graphic Communication and Research Methods in Social Science and Management.
Popularly called “Para” by his students, he will be missed for his jovial nature and great knowledge and understanding of the art of Mass Communication. He died on Sunday, May 20, 2018, aged 57, and is survived by a wife and 3 children.
