Dear Recruiters/Hiring Managers,
It is very 1902 to invite candidates for interviews and be engaged in other activities such as typing on your phone or on your laptop. It shows a poor and outdated recruitment process. The same respect you accord clients at business meetings that prevents you from working on your laptop or on your phone while in front of them, do accord same to job seekers during the interview process. You are not that busy, I assure you.
It does not also position your company well when you do not take out time to read a candidate’s resume before the interview and right then and there in front of the candidate, you ask for some time to go through the resume as you just requested for a copy from the HR unit. This is 2018. Times have changed.
Money is no longer a major motivating factor for high performers and strong potentials. The company culture is, and it starts with the recruitment process. I’ve had candidates refuse to proceed with interviews because of the attitude of the prospective employers during the recruitment process. You are not doing job seekers a favor by employing them. It is a mutual value hence you need to reflect that value at every stage of the recruitment process.
