Kelechi Iheanacho Scores Twice in FA Cup as He Makes VAR History

Nigerian striker, Kelechi Iheanacho scored twice in Leicester city’s 2-0 victory over Fleetwood in the 3rd round of the FA Cup replay.

The Super Eagles striker scored his first goal in the 43rd minute to give his team 1-0 halftime lead. His second goal in the 77th minute was initially disallowed for offside until the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) was activated and proved decisive as the goal stood because he was not offside. This made history as the first ever VAR confirmed goal in England. The technology already in use in the Bundesliga and Serie A in Germany and Italy respectively is being used in the FA Cup but not the Premier League in England.
