Google’s Parent Company Alphabet is Building a ‘City of the Future’ in Toronto

What will cities look like in the future with all the current and future advances in tech we are looking forward to? This is a question Alphabet which is the parent company of Google is trying to answer through one of its other subsidiaries, Sidewalk Labs.

Sidewalk Labs has announced it will be redeveloping Quayside, which will be known as Sidewalk Toronto as a super-smart tech-driven city. Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau seems excited about this project, having this to say about it: “This will create a test bed for new technologies in Quayside,”  he noted.

“Technologies that will help us build smarter, greener, more inclusive cities - which we hope to see scale across Toronto’s eastern waterfront and eventually in other parts of Canada and around the world.”

Meanwhile, the developer  has stated: “Sidewalk expects that many residents, in general, will be attracted by the idea of living in a place that will continuously improve,” in its proposal for the project.
