You need to be purposeful. Some people may ask, “Why do I need to make a New Year’s resolution? I fail at this every year. A New Years’ resolution is meant to give you purpose for the New Year. I would rather aim for the moon and land amongst the stars than not to take flight at all. Take flight in the New Year by giving yourself a purpose!
You need to be positive. People who live with purpose tend to be positive people. We have all heard the adage about the power of positive thinking. One great adage is, “If my mind can conceive it, and my heart can believe it – then I can achieve it.”
You must be positive in the New Year if you want to take flight! Exercise the power of positive thinking in the New Year!
You need to be productive. In being productive, you must purpose in your heart what you would like to achieve and set realistic goals in 2017. If you purpose to lose weight in 2017, you must eat clean, drink plenty of water and workout 3 to 5 times a week.
It would do you well and enhance your productivity by hiring a certified trainer for the first quarter. Fitness trainers can be some of the most positive and purposeful people that you will meet in 2017.
You need to be proactive. As you establish your purpose in 2017, remember to be proactive. Set your goals now! Fitness experts always suggest that you do not have to wait for a New Year. Why don’t you start on a New Monday? Do it now! Why wait for the New Year? Studies show that if you begin the preparations now, you are more likely to accomplish your goals in 2017. Prepare yourself the day before the purpose of tomorrow. If you study the life of great thinkers, athletes, or business men, you will note that they are all proactive people. I believe it was a coach who said, “Hard works beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard.” Be proactive!
You need to be persistent. The magic of people who live miraculous lives is that they are persistent. This kind of person will never give up! If you are going to purpose yourself to be a brand new you in 2017 you must be determined to never get up! In a magazine article in 1940, Babe Ruth wrote, “You just can’t beat the person who never gives up.” My word of encouragement for you today is for you to not give up on yourself in 2017! Be persistent and go about your purpose one day at a time!
You need to be persuasive. Be in constant pursuit of your purpose. It will be worth it in becoming a brand new you. Once your purpose is evident, you will begin to persuade others by your actions. In pursuing your purpose, you will also motivate others. Once you start motivating others then you will find that this will be an encouragement for yourself to reach your goals for the new year! If you can persuade yourself and others, you will have an effect for change in the world around you in 2017.
You need to be peaceable. If you fail to reach your purpose in the first month do not be so hard on yourself. Everyone at some time or another fail in reaching a goal in the time limits that we set for ourselves. Therefore, it is so importance to be proactive. Plan to fail and then plan to start again. There is another adage that says, “Rome wasn’t build in a day.” Take your time to build your purpose throughout 2017, 2018 or even 2019.
You did not get to where you are overnight. You should not have an unrealistic view on how long it is going to take you to reach your goals. Be at peace with that and settle in for the long haul. It is a marathon not a hundred-yard dash in becoming a brand new you. It is not a trip. It’s a journey!
